John,

Theres a couple of default answers to your question.

First, the Kenai Penninsula is a good bet. Plenty of campgrounds, plenty of streams, plenty of fish, and plenty of other folks to keep you company. June - July are easy months where you know there will be fish in a number of locations.

Second - Matsu Valley north of Anchorage. Basically, you'll be fishing the Susitna drainage. Alot like the Kenai with plenty of streams, fish and people. This has a few more locals than tourists but don't be mislead, there will be plenty of company. Run timing is similar.

First thing I would do is go on Amazon and buy the Alaskan Gazetteer/Atlas. This will let you look up and highlight streams as you learn of the where and when.

Good luck,

Steve

if you go to the north of Anchorage and fish the the willow the little willow or any of the other streams in that area during the middle of july to the end of september you will find plenty of fish.
