I was thinking about taking a trip up to Ebey Lake in Snohomish County. Is the access road still closed at the gate? If so, how far from the gate to the lake? Thanks for any info. you may have.

Last time I was there, maybee 3 years ago the gate was looked shut. I rode my mountain bike up to the lake with my waders, fins, float tube, rod, tackle, and about twenty pounds of other stuff I didn't use. It was an hour or two of hard uphill riding maybee 3 to 5 miles and it rained the whole time. Once I got to the lake the trails from the road were more grown over than I last remembered and took a little searching to find. I've fished days on that lake when you counldn't have your line in the water for more than five minutes without catching a fish, this wasn't one of them. I did manage to catch a few trout with nemphs, but nothing to impresive size wise. I havn't been back since. I would be interested to hear how you do if you go. Good luck!

The old road to Ebey Lake is gated and closed. The newest gate is several miles back down the road from the old DNR gate (the DNR gate was about 3 miles from the lake). This gate was installed by the owners of property along the road and ignoring it , even to walk up the road, could get you charged with trespassing. There is another rough track, taking off some distance below the gate, which brings you in on the west side of the lake, but I suspect that this too crosses private property. We need to get something done about this, we can't afford to give up a like like Ebey.
