So, the IHME has a couple new predictions….Covid-19 cases will peak in Washington state in about two days and the number of COVID-19 deaths in Washington state will peak by Feb. 4. Really?
Let’s take a look at how the IHME has done with their predictions so far:

On August 21, they predicted there would be 5,040 dead in WA by December 1st. WRONG, missed that by 50%.
Then they predicted 4,500 dead by January 1. WRONG, missed that by a bunch.
Then on December 4th, they predicted 6,600 dead by April 1, but then on December 24th they bumped it to 8,048. Both of those will be WRONG.
Then on January 14th, they predicted 8,491 dead by May 1st, but just yesterday changed it to 6,000 dead by May 1st.
And now they predict cases will peak on a certain day as will deaths…..are you going to believe them?

Not sure how they sleep at night after scaring and terrorizing the public continually with false statements…..which are commonly known as “lies”.

For those of you who believe their crap, keep drinking the Kool-aid.

It's political. The election is over now back to regular scheduled business.

Sure, the China virus is deadly but it's been well over played.

I'm glad you posted this.

I'm going to send it to the immediate families of my relatives that have died. They'll be happy to see that it's overblown and it's fake news that there's a real and serious threat from the hoax.

Many months ago someone here said they didn't know anybody that had died, or had even been infected.
The implication was to perpetuate the low IQ opinion that it was an overblown hoax to control people.

Never give up Snake, you'll find a few gullible fools that will go along with your poorly thought out conclusions.

You can easily find them because they tend to wear red hats and travel in groups waving flags pledging allegiance to an orange narcissist.

My mother in law got the virus like last February in her assisted living facility. Now she has a lump in her lung. Going to do more tests.

My friend's sister just pasted away from Covid last weekend.

Larry King went to hospital for Covid and ended up dying.

Still there are people in denial that think they are medical doctors and blame it on politics. Go drink some bleach.

I spent most of last week getting estimates for rapid tests and drafting contract requirements.

The only way this goes away is social distancing, masks, sanitizers, vaccinations, and testing.

If snake had seen the Covid thread* from a few months ago hopefully he woulda used some different bait.

*You know, the Covid thread where quite a few people here said they had friends and family members who died or spent painful time in the hospital from Covid.

Yep, what's Biden been doing all week, it should have been plenty of time for him to clean up the mess he was left and get millions of doses of the vaccine to every remote location in the country.

It's so evident he was left with a superb plan that had accounted for every detail and it was handed over to him on a silver platter.

Biden really dropped the ball.

Trump gets credit for his trump Virus for many reasons, here are 4.

denying it.

mocking those that did not deny it.

promoting it.

and finally, ignoring it.

Feel free to add the others, or.... attempt to contradict any of these.

I got chipped last Friday. The shot itself was as close to painless as you can get. After watching the important people get vaccinated on television, and seeing the needle go "to the bone", I was expecting more. Six hours after being vaccinated, the injection site shoulder was mildly painful. The following day, moving my arm upward to shoulder height or more, elevated the pain level to moderate. It took another 24 hrs for the discomfort to subside. There were no other side effects. Beats getting even a mild case of Covid-19.

Scheduled for #2 on 2/19. Most of my issues with the first one were sore shoulder and lethargy. Oddly, the should responded quickly to exercise. Even just running, with the swinging arm motion, reduced the pain. Sitting still increased it. Lasted a couple days is all.

I have tried to get my wife and I appointments, but no luck so far. We are both 76, live so King County and there are NO appointments available anywhere. I did get signed up at Virginia Mason but they have not contacted us yet. Even contact my PCP but he says he cant do anything.

How did I manipulate the system, exactly?

They told me to get one, I went online to my provider and found out where they are providing them, and made an appointment.

That...is the system.

I made my appointment through Kaiser Permanente, two of my older co-workers received theirs this week, one thru Virginia Mason and one thru Blue Cross/Premera...just have to call around and find out what stations are taking appointments, and take one.

Took me about a week of trying to find one, but only a short time to get an appointment once I did.

Go here to see if you are eligible:

https://form.findyourphasewa.org/210118771253954

Go here to get an appointment:

https://www.doh.wa.gov/YouandYourFamily/Immunization/VaccineLocations

There are at least 50 places just in King County, and a couple hundred statewide.

My old man and his wife live in Stevens County, signed up and got their appointments and their vaccinations all in a few days.

Follow Todd's "younger person" example. Tell 'em your common law wife is 14 years old. The incarcerated get top priority for vaccinations...

Signed up on the phase finder.
It will likely be awhile for me based on my age and having no younger folks living with me.
Hopefully more vaccine will become available and the older folks can get their vaccinations soon.
I’ll wait it out until I get my notification.

My mom that lives in a care facility got her first two weeks ago.
One of the ladies she lives with is 104 years old.

The multi generation household would mean if you live with someone in an older generation than yourself. By your rationale, every 50 year old with a kid in the household is eligible.
Sounds like a flawed system. No wonder people eligible can't get the vaccine, people like yourself have taken advantage.
I will only get the vaccine when I know everyone eligible in previous age and risk groups who want it, have received it.

I think you're on to something here. Wife was vaccinated at the same time I was. She followed up with a couple sessions of chair yoga; lots of arm movement and stretching of arms. I sat and watched ball games, primarily moving my arm to devour snacks. She experienced no pain in her arm, and no other side effects. I had pain. After the next shot, I plan on trying...different snacks wink

Hoping I can get mine sooner than later.
What I find very frustrating is how low on the priority list I fall, yet had to work through the entire thing while with absolutely no time off what so ever as "Agriculture Essential" yet will probably have to wait a couple more months to get my shots. At least I had steady income through the entirety of it.
Could be worse I guess.

Todd - there was an entire article in the Seattle Times on what counts as multi-generational to qualify. Your case doesn't but it's not your fault - they sure don't make parameters very clear in findyourphasewa.org

All I can say is that the DOH guidelines say that if you are 50, and have a relative from a younger generation living with you who is not your child, then you are in 1B, and that's what my situation is.

They specifically said grandchild, or nephew, and "not your child"...and that's what's up here.

You don't get to decide for yourself if you qualify; DOH tells you if you do, or do not.

Here's the question they ask on the DOH site:

I'm over 50, my nephew lives with us. Not sure where the disconnect is here.

Because, one, I don't need someone telling me I am "gaming the system" by following the fuckin rules...they aren't exactly difficult to follow...and, two, I want everyone to get in line and get their vaccinations as soon as they qualify.

Our lack of any meaningful response to Covid-19 means that mass vaccinations are the only way we get our economy back on track, and that's good for all of us.

Get the shots.

So, the IHME is at it again. Making predictions, scaring people, being wrong. I can't imagine a job in which you can make a prediction that is wrong, make a new prediction, then change that prediction before it has run its course and then do it again. We can't do that in business...."I'm going to sell this number of something by this date" and then before that date change that number. We can't do that with anything in life, but the IHME is special and they do it all the time. Now the prediction is lowered to 5,316 Covid deaths by May 1 and 5,520 by June 1. Here's a suggestion.....STFU! Because after a year of being wrong, you now adjust your predictions to resemble factual trends and you want to take credit for it. If you were in the real business world, you wouldn't last a week.
And of course the media today loves it....anything that is opinion is glorified. It used to be that the news was reporting what happened. Now most article subject lines include the words "possibly", "could", or "may". And most of you stand in line and drink that Kool Aid.

Do folks even understand how predictions work? They are based on what happened in the past and assume that what happened then will continue. With Covid, IF people act exactly as they did in the last 6 months, such and such will happen. If, instead, they all mask up, isolate, vaccinate and so on the something else will happens. And, if we go all "it's a hoax" something else will happen. The best one can do is learn from the past and use that to inform the future.

As a friend of mine, in fisheries, once said "All models are wrong but some are useful".

Time for IHME's doom and gloom predictions again....and Komo touts that the IHME has been accurate with their predictions during the pandemic. Are you fukkin kidding me? I have shown repeatedly how they aren't accurate.
Now the IHME says covid cases will increase in the fall. No #$%@, that's flu season....it's seasonal. Kids are back in school, it happens every year.
Other states have dropped mask mandates, have opened up their cities....not here in good ole Demtard Washington. Keep things shut, keep the fear mongering and non-vaccination shaming. And in September....don't worry IHME, schools have already stated they will be requiring masks for staff and kids. It will never end....not in this state anyway.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

L&I says fully vaccinated employees are no longer required to wear a mask.

Businesses can also stop requiring customers to wear masks.

Looks like this sh!t is over.

And apparently you heard wrong...

That's a negative ghost rider you live in Washington...

Just got off a zoom meeting that Dimslee was on for state employees and not the case. Masks for everyone regardless of vaccination...

I'm pretty sure I heard right. You can read the deets for yourself. We're not state employees where I work.

I get what you're saying but it's still up to employers.

True.

I think most employers are anxious to ditch the mask mandates, though. Our mask signs come down tomorrow.

I know a few Trump fanbois that work for the government. But the unheard of indiosyncratic job they do is actually important, unlike all those other unheard of but unnecessary indiosynceatic jobs the other government employees do. In fact, government would completely cease to function without them, because the rest of the government employees that aren’t Trump supporters do nothing important. ;-)

If we can't maintain 6 ft distance still have to wear a mask even if vaccinated.
