June Doom

Or June Gloom for those in the know. So I’ve missed the last week of “offa the charts Kokanee Fishing “ due to a flared up sciatica. Needless, or needles to say it doesn’t like to help me “Get the Boat Ready “ to fish the next day, so I’m down for the count until Wednesday -ish. However the doctor gave clearance to hit it again after then, so we were pumped to get back out.

Woohoo, Not ! Now the forecast is for the June Gloom, with clouds, cool temps, and maybe some sprinkles for th next week or so ?

That sux !

Everyone knows the Kokes quit biting as soon as the first clouds come in, and like sockeye, the bites tend to suck !

Hope we won’t need the boat heaters...

Well, two pinks have been caught in MA 10 in the past few days…..
Hopefully that helps you heal up.

No way, who claims they caught Pinks downstream from us ? Poachers, cowboys, plug pullers, spoon chuckers, fly floggers, who ?

Please lay off the Pinks before they get here to the 11 !

However, if they were C&R’d that’s ok ...

They updated yesterday’s creel numbers after I looked at them and three pinks were caught in MA 10.

Three ? Likely miss I’d, ya know , round spots vs. ovals etc.

Still another stab in the eye guess, but very good to hear non the less.


The flys and mini jigs are gett’n twitche.

There are three early-timed pink stocks in WA. The most well known is Dungeness and it is the source for the Hoodsport Hatchery stock. The other early stock is Nooksack. So, the fish in the catch could be these stocks.

There was an interesting thread on another board about resident pink salmon. One of the members posted a picture of a small pink he caught in early May in 2023.
