There are three productive baits. They are in order, sandshrimp, sandshrimp and sandshrimp.

Ever tried Razor clam necks? I think they'd make the top three easy!!! I did alot of this kind of fishing when I was younger with my parents all up and down the coast and the clam necks always worked extremely well!

Have to second Bob D.'s comments. I can't ell you how many hours I spent as a kid on the beaches around Moclips fishing for these things .... Mom always lopped the top portion of the razor's neck off and they were top-notch baits ... you could catch a ton of them on one piece! The sandshrimp do work well, but a little delicate ...

Sand worms, or piling worms work well, too. I've caught surf perch at Wash-a-way Beach near Tokeland, Westport's finger jetties, and off the beach in front of Grayland State Park. We used to fish the mid-June to mid-July period, alot.
