I was over on the peninsula talking with some people and they said that the game department was up at Morgan's. I heard that they had sited Bob's vehicle for no sticker. I'm sure Bob has a sticker since I'm sure he has a license, but what I was wondering was does anyone know how often they check Morgan's and what are the other launches that they check? Can they check any launches or just theirs. Probably a stupid question but had to ask.

The stickers are required at all WDFW launches, not the others.

I was simply asking a questions not trying to stir any pots. Obviously it's a touchy subject for you. I apologize. I didn't know. I was under the assumption that this bb was for asking questions and finding out information. I was just giving a little background as to why I was asking the question. Wow! An attitude. I was simply asking a question to someone whom I was told was knowledgeble about the rules and regulations of fishing. I am new to this BB and was told that this was a good site with good people and good information. If I knew I was going to be treat like this I never would of asked the question. You never answered my question. You were more concerned about the sticker thing. Why I don't know and I don't care. I wanted to know about the launches and take outs not whether you have a sticker on your vehicle or not. That doesn't concern me. It's your responsiblity not mine. I guess I got off on the wrong foot. But obviously you don't want new-comers so I will find a different site for my information. My main conern was about fishing, not stiring pots. Or smoking pot for that matter. Obviously your concern was different.

I caught this at a busy time and the can go allot of different ways, but here is a little of how I feel.

Sodom Insane should be shot....oh, wait, not those sovereign nations..

Why should a certain group be treated differently? Isn't it supposed to be, "One Nation under God"?
How can you have a Nation within a Nation? Do any other races get special treatment? NO!
Well, ok, maybe some do.
Yes, they were treated unfairly in the past, but did I do it? NO!

The 3 I am very familiar with are horrible. Garbage, junked cars, rotten deer/elk/fish in the vacant lots. How did this happen? Federal Subsidies! It can happen with anyone..look at our welfare system. Until a few years ago you could really abuse our welfare system, with people having kids, not working, waiting with their hand out for a check...

Did you know that some tribal members receive large amounts of money when they reach a certain age? This is usually due to land sales and such, but most of these members are teenagers, or young adults with no guidance.
Have you ever seen friends die as direct result of the money they were given?

If you look, I think you will find other sigs that you can be upset about...some are pretty damn close to my original.

You're pretty judgemental about a people who have been living on these rivers for 9000 years. Did you ever really try to get to know any of them? I've known plenty and none of them ever got big chunks of cash when they reached any age. You say you don't like how their arrangment affects you. What about how you affect them? Does that matter? Think outside the box that defines your lily white life. Put yourself in their shoes. You might find you have quite a bit in common with them.

I can see you are going to be irrational and no matter how I put things you are going to see what you want to see. But since fishing is slow and not much hunting to do, I will bite.

I grew up on a rez, and have other family on an OP rez.
I have lost numerous friends, (one like a brother) that were native americans. Three before they were twenty-one years old. All within six months of recieving aprox. 10 grand. each. One to drowning, one to a car wreck and one to hanging.

How do you know I am white?
I am actually hispanic and more often then not am asked which tribe am I belong to.

The so-called native americans who get special privileges often have more european blood than anything else. Most tribes require less than 1/2 blood for membership.
Nobody can say WE took THEIR land. People who whine about what happened to their greatgreatgreatgrandparents getting screwed over are just looking for a free ride. Do something to improve yourself!

I'm just going to dip my toe into this one. Riverswild, I think you're correct about the ironic destruction of tribes through subsidizing. There's an oddly applicable bit of wisdom: "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime...only usually, if he fishes with a gillnet, he won't eat it but will instead sell it for practically no profit just because that's his right." Alright, I added that last part. But it's true enough with regard to the need for tribes to revitalize their ambition and tradition. If I were a tribal member, I would make it a priority to recognize my tribe's legacy of sound stewardship for thousands of years. And I would also make it a priority to revitalize my tribe's economy through better marketing of this fact. Too often, "we" (non-Native sportsmen) forget about how well the tribes utilized their resources in the past. HOWEVER, the tribes themselves seem to be oblivious that this was ever the case.

Riverswild, I respect your opinion because of your expiences, but I bet those three guys you knew were in Alaska, right? Native Land Claims Settlement checks? I've never heard of any Indians getting big cash here in Washington. The ones I know don't even get social security. And before you decide how an entire race should live, maybe check with them? They might have some opinions on that. Stillybum and flyfisher, you're both ignorant. I have a Tulalip friend whose grandmother was beaten in boarding school for speaking her own language. You try to tell him its ancient history. I can't tolerate racism in any of its subtle forms.

When are the damned liberals in this country gonna learn that givin people rights, money, special treatment isnt doin them any good (though I may be wrong pertaining to casinos, ya). Alot of tribes in this country have some hardcore problems, and weird too, they have been GIVEN alot of the above mentioned items. Call me a racist I call it tough love, you want something work for it and it is yours.
I have respect for the indians history and feel they were screwed in some instances in the past. But people need to stand on their own two feet. If that makes me a racist in your little book, fine. 1. Wrong. These highschool buddies were registered with a South Puget Sound Nation and were born,raised & buried in South Sound.
Not all tribes get large checks, but these monies came from land aquisitions and sales from/to the state and federal government.

2. Who am I going to check with to see how "my race" to live?

I am not against Native Americans, just Sovereign Nations in America. Doesn't matter what the race.
