Would someone mind pointing me in the right direction? Have never fished springers in the Columbia but would like to get in on the next opener with my son's. Have fished fall kings at the Cowlits mouth and have fished sturgeon out of the Fishery. I am not looking for anyone's honey hole, just someplace with good opportunities. Is the gourge better than downriver? Is trolling better over hog linin up? Are plug better than herring, shrimp? Do Alvins work for springers as they do for fall kings? Anything would help. Can EMail me direct if that would help. Ronp@integrityol.com Much thanks to all..... confused confused

Most techniques that you use in the fall will work in the spring. We have caught fish everywhere we have gone out on all different things. Spinners, plugs, herring, prawns. Seen them on alvins. The key for us has been finding aprox 20' of water with current. If the tide is running good enough you can anchor or backtroll. If it is slower you can troll. The hotspot that is no secret has been up at bonneville, but the crowds are terrible . You can have 20 fish days up there though. I fished up there for awile and like it better with less of a crowd and we have still done real well down river. If you have anarea you like for falls that would still probably be a good spot to start. Good luck.

Fishers also have done real well on K-13/14/15 Kwikfish, scented or sardine/herring filet wrapped. The best color seems to be the chrome with chartruse. Should be lots of fish in the whole lower river still. Good luck.
