I was planning to hit the Wind (The Canyon) this weekend and was wondering how the fishing has been. I live about four hours away from the Wind, so if I'm just going to waste a trip let me know. Would I be better off going to the Clackamas? What do you guys think? Thanks! confused

4 fish limit? I was just on the WDFW emergency rules page, and didn't see anything mentioning a 4 fish limit on the wind. If you have a link I'd love to see it. I've been fishing the canyon a bit and it's definately scratch fishing. But it's absolutely beautiful, and the lack of fish is keeping the yahoo's away (For now) yesterday the water was raising so I imagine it's going to be a zoo real soon.

Here are the regs and the link to read them

Wind River - From markers/buoy line at the mouth upstream to 800 yards downstream from Carson National Fish Hatchery (except for closed waters near the Shipherd Falls and the coffer dam just upstream from the falls), open to fishing for spring chinook and hatchery steelhead through June 30. Daily limit 2 salmonids, chinook or hatchery steelhead. Effective May 17, the daily limit increases to 4 salmonids, no more than 2 hatchery steelhead. Any chinook, regardless of presence or absence of an adipose fin, may be retained. Minimum size is 12" for chinook and 20" for hatchery steelhead. Night closures and non-buoyant lure restrictions are in effect.

Drano Lake - Downstream from markers on point of land downstream and across from Little
White Salmon National Fish Hatchery and upstream of the Highway 14 Bridge, open to fishing for spring chinook and hatchery steelhead through June 30. Through May 30, closed to all fishing on Wednesdays. Night closure and non-buoyant lure restrictions are in effect

Thanks a lot firedog. That's a lot of meat to be humping out of that canyon, I can only imagine the zoo it's going to become.
