Got back from Medford yesterday at 11 pm after leaving at 8:20 in the morning with the new boat, it's a beauty! 16'x54" guide model with a few extras, can't wait to get her wet. That was the longest drive in a long time, didn't think I'd ever get home...that's some pretty country down there though. The umpqua river looked awfully tempting as I drove by it but knew I had to leave the rods home or I'd never get back!

Great boat! that's what I have and I love it. Happy rowing and you'll have to take a picture of your first dent and post it on the board. The first one is the only one that hurts confused confused

Yes the first dent hurts but when you polish it in a few years you will see all the ones you didn't know about and the pain comes right back. I polished my Willie this weekend and was I surprised how much use it has gotten. eek

Jigman--I made the same trip down to Central Point and picked up my Willie (same model) in 1991 (my third drift boat). George made me a deal on a boat that they had just built but had the wrong paintjob on the inside (a custom order--oops). It's been a very durable boat and I've had many good times with it. The boat even spend the night wedged against a sweeper and upside down in the Quinault. It rained that night, but we still got her out. I doubt that many other boats would have survived the stresses we put on the boat getting it out of the river. We broke a 3/4 inch poly rope yarding on it in mid river. I don't take risks with my Willie and scout unknown sections of rivers before running them--but a little inattention and a benign looking spot can be trouble fast. So, enjoy your new toy and be careful out there.

This is also my 3rd drift boat, I bought my first boat(a Fishrite)in 1982 and just sold it a month ago and also had a 14 foot Clackacraft for a few years. Decided to get rid of the old Fishrite and get a new boat this year. Hope to not put too many dents in it!!!
