I’m going up to the Olympic peninsula this weekend to fish on the Calawah, Sol Duc and Bogachiel rivers. I’ve never fished on these rivers before does anybody have useful info, advice or techniques I should try ? I’ll be fishing from the bank. Thanks for your help.

Longggggggg, lite leaders and really good small clusters of eggs, with a selection of different size slinky weights! Focus around the Forks hole. And watch out for cougers! Talk to Bob at the sporting goods store. And buy some bait from him. He'll get you to the Forks hole.

Lower rivers have been fishing pretty well. If you are flyfishing, bunny leeches, woolybuggers are always winners. You can stop by the shops for current info, Bob in Forks at Olympic, and Quality Fly fishing in Port Angeles are good sources. Plenty of Summer run steelies in all the rivers, plus some kings.

Ive been out almost every day and have only caught a handfull of fish. It's getting a little better but still nothing to write home about. The honest truth is there arnt many fish around.
If you get to the Clawah at daylight near the north pond you will get a couple but if you get there after 9:00 your to late. Try some small spinners nothing above size #3. Dont go above 6# test. Also try some jigs and raw prawn after you do the spinner thing. Go with 1/16th oz. black and red with the jigs dont even mess with pink "pink is not the ticked this year". As far a the duc goes I havent seen or heard much for steelies in here. I havent hit any yet and havent heard of many people who have.
Today a friend and I each got one. Mine was about a 7# hen on a jig and prawn and his was about #14 pound buck on a #3 vibrax. Didnt see anybody else with fish.
Good luck! the key is being there at daylight.
