I was wondering if boot foot waders are a good idea. I've never owned a pair of them but it looks like they would be more conviniant than lacing up wading boots, and also who make's a good pair for around 130 dollars I know that cabelas does.

Iron,

I posted a similar question on a different thread but I was addressing breathable waders.

I can tell you why I switched to bootfoot. First, I got tired of the stocking foot leaking. Cheap ones, spendy ones.....didn't matter, they all leaked. Second, when I get to an area bank or boat fishing, I'm often in a hurry and I find it a pain in the ass taking the time to string up shoes over stocking foot waders. Bootfoots are nice because they are fast.

And, I'll dispell one more myth; many people say bootfoots are cumbersome to walk in. Not true! If you are in even remotely good shape they are no more unpleasant to walk in than stocking foot waders. You may be adding about a pound in the boot but any one who complains about a 1 lb. difference in their waders has mental problems.

It all depends on what kind of fishing you're doing. If you're wading a difficult, slippery bottom, bootfoot waders won't provide nearly the security of stockingfoots and a good wading shoe. On the other hand, bootfoot waders with insulated boots will keep you much more comfortable while wading your favorite steelhead stream in the winter. Stockingfoot waders, regardless of what combination of socks, etc. you wear, will never keep your feet as warm as an insulated bootfoot. Match the boot to your needs. I even have a cheap pair of lug-soled bootfoots that I only use when wading the saltwater beaches for cutts and salmon.

You want boot-foot waders? I got a nice pair of Bare Neoprene Waders I'll sell you.

I think I paid $300+ for the Bares. I'd let them go for $150. Patched a couple of small holes, but that's about it for past damage. I'm 5' 11, 200lbs with size 11 foot.
