On the first day that the Snohomish was open, I was casting a pink buzzbomb and I was catching pinks almost at will. The same thing occurred on Monday; if the pinks were running in front of me they would strike the buzzbomb. Yesterday and today, I went out in the morning and there were pinks jumping all over the place, but not a single strike on the old pink buzzbomb. What are your theories as to why the pinks suddenly became lock-jawed?

Try swimming a pink or hot pink jig through them in 1/8th oz. They love that.

We hammered the pinks last weekend on just about everything we put in front of them. When they would quit biting one type of lure we would switch to something different. Throw 'em a change up to increase strikes. Usually the jigs are tough to beat.

Good luck

My experience has been that humpies will change preferences for color from day to day and in some cases over a few hours in the same hole. Pink is best to start with but I quickly change to chartreuse if I haven't drawn a bite in the first hour. If this doesn't change the bite situation I'll throw orange at them. Last resort is to switch back to pink but then test them with shades from pale to deep. I have no idea if river color, flow or light conditions is the cause of this behavior. Another of those mysteries of fishing.
