Fished bark hole (I think thats what they call it) Friday afternoon and I wasn't alone. If you've ever been to that hole, you know that you have to hike down a 50-75 ft. hill to get to the river. There's not many places you can go without hopping in the river. Well, right on top of the hill a cougar paced around watching my every move. He finally left, but I was scared to leave until 2 hours or so after I no longer saw him. Anyways, always take a partner when fishing wooded areas like that. If not a person, then a .44
Did catch fish though............
p.s. if you want to stay safe, the Puyallup is loaded with crome bright silvers. Don't worry about spooking em either. Visibilities about 2 inches......

I've been up there on some of those smaller streams and some of the tracks you see make the hair stand up on your neck. Not only that but most of those smaller streams have thick brush along the sides and it's not too fun when you hear stuff, that is large stuff moving around back in it. James and I were on one stream and on our way out about 0 dark 30 we came to a thick alder patch and followed an elk trail out which was no wider than yourself, and the wierd thing is you couldn't walk out through the alders because they are so thick. At the end of the alders there was a small animal, I beleive it was a bobcat that ran right across james's feet. He yelled at it but since that day I won't go into those thick areas without a pistol.
It's not the bobcats that scare us its those longtails.

I just got back from the OP with the KID and we had a possible close call. We walked into the calawah from the bogie and on our way back we were going to take the trail from the north pond through the woods instead of the river. Well Kid spotted BIG kitty prints on the trailhead. They looked to be pointed right at us! Like she was just sitting there waiting for the smaller of us two to venture away(that being me) So we hiked along the river and problem solved.(I'm seriously wondering if I should pack heat when I'm walking the OP) This is not the first time either I've SEEN cats out there 4 times now eek eek eek
