I don't know about Sekiu, but Bouy 10 is dead.

Fished bouy 10 Sat and Sun. It was dead. We ended up going about 3 miles past the last Bouy in the ocean. 2 fish limit. We got nice coho to 17 lbs and 2 chinook.

Check out my reports on Sekiu in the last few months. That would be my bet, as I have yet to have bad day up there, (except when I took Seacat out and all I caught were four 4 pounders and about 30 smolts while he caught a 14.2 pound hooknose, and a few nice fish that were smaller). smile

I have yet to have an issue with limiting, and I have been VERY selective on the fish I keep. The fewest fish in a day was 8 (I got a nice king and a nice silver after about 2 hours of fishing), the most in a day was 38. I don't think folks at Buoy 10 have had that luxury.

All silvers are open at Sekiu, and the water/bumper boat situation is much less of a life threatening ordeal. You still need to be careful, but a compass, gps, cell phone and good boathandling skills should be the minimum of navigation equipment that you head out with. VHF would be even better.

Andy

OK Andy, let's do it again, and see what's up with Seacat jinx! laugh

How about the Satsop when it's open for those 20 pounders?

Hi Seacat,

I'm up for that. This next weekend is out, but I might be able to do something around the 29th or 30th. It would be a bank show, and you could just bring the rod you had with you the other day. The river was low and clear, but I think we could find few fish. I have plenty of eggs, only about 15 pounds. Andy

Hey Andy,

Someone informed me, and I thought I had read in one of the threads here that the Satsop is closed until Oct. 1st, so maybe a different location or a different weekend, eh?

The Chehalis is open, and we could actually fish that from a small boat like my 12 footer. We could even head up to the mouth of the Satsop. It is a lot like a lake in many sections with some slow moving water. I may be able to find us a drift boat to use as well, but I'll know more in a few days.

My friend who fished it a lot said that even my 18 foot boat would be okay up to a certain point, but I am kind of fond of that 17 pitch prop of mine.

Andy,

I haven't seen the Chehalis this year to know for sure, but on typical water years, you could launch your 18 footer in Montesano, and run up to the mouth of the Satsop with no problems if your careful. smile

Good luck,

Mark

Hi Mark,

How's it going? I have been over to the Chehalis recently, last Sunday actually. It was pretty low, even for regular summer flows, so I might just stick with the duck boat. The Satsop was extremely low the other day as well. Barely enough water to launch anything. Andy
