I am getting ready to by a few of the G. Loomis STR1141S boondoggin rods. I know they are rated 4-6# test and I was wondering if anyone if running heavier line than this? If so any bad experiences trying to break off a snagged line? Also if anyone could give me there oppinion on these rods for boondoggin the Cowlitz for Winter Runs I would appreciate it. Thanks

I fish the Allstar 1141 spinning rods and they are killer for boondogging and sidedrifting. Been using 10lb. Trilene and 8lb. leaders with no problems.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

I think the 1141 is rated for 4-8 lb test. There's really no need to go heavier than 10 lb with this rod, as it is a soft, slow rod. I wouldn't think running 10 lb would be any problem, though.

Great rod for dragging bait! laugh

I run #12 maxima and 30# power pro (braided) for float fishing on this rod all the time. With any rod you just have to recognize it's limitations and do not overstress the rod. When you hang on the bottom just point the rod at the snag and pull.Do not do the up and jerk and you will do just fine.

HI: I use 14# fireline with 10# leaders. Landed salmon up to 28#s. No problem, but do as was mentioned above. Just aim the rod at the snag and hold the reel spool until the leader releases or breaks.

Haven't had any problem with it using it like this.

I also fish #10 and #12 mono on my 1141C and have no problems.

Remember, is a $.15 corky and $.25 hook really worth a busted $300 rod?? Point and pull!
