I have been a banker for 2 years, see the drift boaters and know a few!
my question is, you put in up river and float down. How do most of you guys get back to trailer? do you have someone pick you up? I dont think motoring back up is the answer!
pleaseilluminate me! confused

Banker:

1. Real hassle.....some bring a bike, lock it up somewhere down river, then someone has to ride the bike back to the tow rig and boat trailer.

2. Some just bring 1 vehicle, the try to "hitch hike" back up to the tow rig.

3. Some bring 2 vehicles, spendie but ???

4. I always did the 2 vehicles bit...nothing worse than to try and hitch hike or ride bike in the pouring rain, or very cold weather.....

All of the above is my I now have a small jet boat, 12 yrs. now. Still have my drift boat, but in that 12 yrs. it has been used less than 10 times. It's still licensed every year, paid for, still looks very good, just that the jet boat is ohhhhhhhhhh so much easier...

Another option is to hire a local shuttle service to pick you up at the take out launch and take you back to your truck and trailer. This usually costs anywhere from $10-25 depending on the distance they have to travel. Inquire at your local bait shop for the shuttle service.

I chain a motor bike to a tree at the takeout. I have a mount on my trailer that holds the scooter. Works out well. It is a handy for running the drifter or pontoon. Beats two vehicles.

I'm waiting for that new Ginger gizmo thing to come out. laugh It looks pretty slick and it folds down so you could easily store it in the stern of the boat.

I do think though that it would freak out some of the yocals when they see you cruising down the road in that space age looking thing. "Look Pa, its an UFO!!! Get the gun, Timmy!!!"

I use a little motorcycle, makes for a cold end of the day ride but it beats 2 trucks. The thumb also works on those more busy drifts.

I use a Honda XR250L. I have used a trail 90 and SL100 in the past. Both are too slow for some of the highway turnarounds. Chain it to a tree downriver and cover with a camo blanket. I built a carrier that goes into my receiver on my truck and allows me to tow my drifboat too. Now I can get back upstream at freeway speeds.

The rivers I drift two things would be for sure if you motored back up.
#1 is a prop per trip, if you could make it all the way
#2 would be the looks people would give while judging your wake rolleyes
