I have a chance to pick one up. I've never heard of them, but I have been led to believe that they are comparable to Loomis rods (kind of in the same way that Allstar and Rainshadow are comparable) Does anyone have any familiarity with these rods? If so, what do you think of them? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Rogue rods are built about a mile from my house. It's headed by Vern Dollar and Bob Loomis Jr.

I've had a chance to try one of the bobber rods on chinook last fall on the quinalt. The rod seemed to have great action and sensativity. I'd certainly recommend them.

Keith, I thought they were from White City OR, maybe thats just where they ship 'em from. As for the rods I just bought a 9'6" 6-12 lb (can't remember the model and too lazy to go check) and that is one sweet rod. When I bought mine I compared it to the loomis gl3 with the same specs and I honestly couldn't tell the difference, except that the rogue was nicer looking. But looks and performance are different creatures so who knows how they really compare. I will say the rogue was $130 less and that buys alot of floats and hooks. Good Luck.

Rogue Rods are produced and White City, Oregon.
They are owned by the Lausman family, long time orchard owners and community members.

They seem to make a decent product although one dealer has sent many back due to spline alighnment being off.

They have had a rocky time getting established to date and have gone through a few production managers and just got rid of their salesmanager.

My advice is if you think you might want or need warranty work down the road to wait as whether or not they will be with us in a year or more is still a big question mark.

They are rumored to have hired an ex-loomis production person but I am not sure. Rumors surround these guys as it was once rumored Gary Loomis was going to work for them.

Also, if you shop the Rogue Valley, you might find the same rod at several different prices as their ex-salemanager wasn't ashamed to play games with pricing to make the sale. They have ticked a lot of folks off in the Rogue Valley with this practice.

I took a chance with a Rogue Rod when they first came out,now I have 3. And really like them all.
I have one loomis GL2 and it definatly doesn't have anything the Rogues dont have. I dont have any of the more expensive loomis rods to compare to. There has been some funny price stuff going on here in the Rogue Valley, but I just always thought it was the retailers trying to see what they could get for them. Anyhow my two cents worth is they're good rods and affordable to most people.

I was very very impressed with the craftmanship and the componets on the rods but the blanks were nothing special. They do not have the sensitivity of say a Loomis, Lamiglass or an AllStar.

I agree with Ryan, the factory rods maybe the best built rods on the market (which doesnt say much ) but the blanks are on the heavy side.. (GL2 type blank)

For many years I've used Loomis and Lamiglass rods only to find out their warranties have become $#!+. I have taken my GL3 STR1024c $250 and GL2 STR1024c $150 the Lamiglass G1000 medium $125 and Rogue XSD864C-2 $160 and I like the rogue better than the lami and GL2 and as well as if not better than the GL3. As for weight the Rogue is the lighter rod of the four. I own several of their rods and love them all. My first order in may the invoice # was 37 my last was 408 I hope this is a good sign that their here for a while.
