The Scappoose Boosters club is putting on an ODWF/WDFW sanctioned (permits) Spring Chinook derby in the St. Helen's area of the Columbia on the same 4/13 Saturday as Flotilla IV. Great!!!

$25 entry tickets and copies of the rules are available at St. Helen's Marina (503-397-4162) and Fisherman's Marine Supply and Outdoor (N. Portland store is 503-283-0044 and the O.C. store is 503-557-3313). Tickets must be purchased prior to the 6 a.m. start of the derby - so get them ahead of that day. You may be able to purchase them by mail? Fish caught in the Columbia or it's tributaries are eligable (NF Lewis and Willamette are right near there). The official weigh-in will be just a few blocks from the St. Helen's Marina docks. Total weight of your individual catch will be your score. It will most likely take a 2 fish limit of decent sized fish to place. There will be cleaning stations there for your fish after weigh in and checking by the judges. You can then head back over to the Sand Island F4 party. With $500.00 dollars if you win. $200.00 for second and $100.00 for third place. Proceeds are going to help area school programs.

Seems like a rather spendy entry fee for a chance too win 500 bucks, especially if its only a 1 day event.

That's going to make for one busy boat ramp.
