I have been fishing up north for years but have never kept any of the Kings due to the fact everyone says they taste bad. I have caught numerous mint bright kings and have always thrown them back. Are they at all eatable when they are mint chromers? I have never tried but was just curious what you guys have done and if they taste good?

They taste just like any other king, IMO. The white kings taste different, better, IMO.

In Sept, Oct, when the white Kings (Springs) are in I've tried them several ways. I prefer the Whites smoked and I like the meat also deep fried. The July Kings I've caught there are excellent any way you want them. Deep red meat. Beautiful!!

Wrong. The vedder springs taste like crap. In fact they stink when you slice one open...thankfully you only make this mistake once. I've heard other river's white's can taste good but the vedder white's don't.

I didn't like the whites that I have caught. But I only tried them few times (Canada and AK) and gave up on them. If I have a bad experience with any thing, it will be off my list. Maybe I should give it a try again.
