Like i said last night. If the Loomis Hoes feel left out i will hand them a rod so they can feel their first springer. If the Wassies fish like they drive this will be a walk in the park!!!! Sleds and pumps a must. If you still sahow up. use fresh octopus(killer bait) swampy bucktails on siwash hooks, size 4/0 wedding ring spinners or green gitzits fished on the bottom. Fish the south side of the buoy line and never go to the racetrack.

Got the zebco all hooked up and new line put on my push button reel. You boys in trouble now!!! What kind of knot should i use to attach the flying lure to my main line??? Boy, I am going to put a hurting to some springers. Read'em and weep boys!!! Gloabou out!!!! :p

Bait boy, Capin' Dan and maybe Mr fisherman will be attending the show. I look forward to seeing what kind of lure RT will bring to this flotilla(Oh yeah he's got blow up dolls). Hopefully the fish keep on pouring through and show up in the numbers that we are waiting with "baited" breath for.

With big hitters like Wiser and Gloa-boa in the boat, I probably won't even NEED to hook anything for our boat to win....I may just provide net support unless we want a late inning insurance fish...

Nothing personal by our team. We are fishing the Willamette instead. Primarily, I want to wait and see what tone flotillas take on from here on out; after the F4 controversy Gizmo made public. Have a good one guys. Hope you catch lots of them - more for fun than for a state or crowded big water luck contest. .....

In case anyone that's going isn't familiar with this springer fishery, I'll give you some tips (for whatever they're worth). Get there early! .. You've likely heard that flatline trolling Mag Warts in flame red or flo orange is the go-to method. That's true. It is particularly effective early. I also like using the chrome/chartreuse colors, with a flame red lure tape 'arrow tail' added. I also like to do something unique with the Mag Warts - use a smaller sardine filet and thread wrap it in front of the belly eyescrew with several winds around the 'neck' between the bill and body; filets aren't just for Kwikfish anymore . Also trolled rolling prawns (orange colored ones too; not just the pink ones - and try injecting some good salmon egg juice), or K-13/14 Kwikfish are good early also. It's worth having one of your partners try a battery lighted Kwikfish or plug for the first 30 minutes or so - I've seen them hit when it's still fairly dark out. Vary your trolling speeds if room permits.

After the fish get more weary as the day progresses they are often more prone to hitting good change ups, such as the trolled rolling prawns or plugcut herring (which aren't used as often up there). I use a 30" lead dropper with 55" leader for trolling bait near bottom; and use a Magnum Hot N Tot diver with 50" leader for trolling them up off bottom in the deeper areas (some springers will swim around a little further off bottom than others). Using a size 3 or 4 spinner blade or small Spin N Glo on the leader right above the prawn is good. If the water is really clear, put a hookless size 4 rainbow colorado spinner blade at mid-leader instead. Also try switching to the regular size Wiggle Wart with a rubber centered barrell lead weight 45" up the leader for the deeper spots, or try a good trolling spinner; and try the metalic colors instead of the red/orange ones from earlier - unless they are still producing of course. In bright sun on clear water I have done really well with a custom flame red arrow tape tailed copper Wart. Shrimp scent for the lures is good there. If the fish in the inner deep areas go off the bite, fish for new ones coming in along the mix line at the bouy fishing deadline. Sometimes the lesser fished shallow spot further up along that line will produce some fish that are swimming away from traffic - especially if you use an electric trolling motor. And try areas with less boat traffic, if at all possible, such as at the far west end of the bouy marked fishing area. If the bite seemingly quits everywhere, I suggest to try trolling back and forth along the far west outer deadline for both new Wind fish and upriver fish that wander in and out of the fresher water there before heading on up the Columbia. ~

For attire, I strongly suggest wearing Kevlar vests and helmuts. Also put your boat bumpers out and hang thick coats on the bow and big motor. Yeeehaaaw

These tips work well for Drano Lake also.

Both (Giz and RT) participants are friends and I'm sorry to see them at each other over something that supposed to be fun.Let's all chill out a little and get back to enjoying each others company.

FJ, sorry you took it personally; it was nothing at all about who is coming to the Wind mini-flotilla. And it was not Stew who decided to wait out flotilla controversies for awhile, it was me. He is not an idiot, and perhaps you owe him an appology? As for me, you may have missed what caused this? It was a flotilla damaging thread by Gizmo (in which he deleted some of his posts after it didn't go his way - then it all got deleted); and other off board things you aren't privy too as well. You and the other guys are fun to socialize with. It's the other ensuing crap that I've tired of. I helped create the competitive atmosphere with fun intended trash talk. I am now trying to help tone it down, because it's gone too far in many people's opinions. btw, my tips for Wind/Drano were put up for the same reason I have always put them up - to help less experienced fishers learn!

RT, during all of your trash talking and that of others before the "self pre-formatted" Flotilla smack threads it looked like a train wreck in the making. For that reason I declined to involve myself with it. To be quite honest with you I stopped reading your thread just after it stopped pertaining to me...think it rude but hey I come here for the fishing and the camaraderie...not to hear a bunch of folks trying to tear each other down. Bragging rights is one thing when all is said and done...but turning a pre planned fun event into some kind of three ringed circus in my eye kind of puts a taint on the whole reason for coordinating such an event. F4 was a great event...I got a chance to meet a whole lot of nice folks...you and Stew included! Tommorrow I will meet a few more of the guys and am looking forward to it. I have solace in knowing that the fellas in the 4 boats that are going will come away from this knowing a few more of the guys that share the same passion for fishing as they do. Sure we all know that one of us will earn bragging rights for they day...yet we will all accept it as part of the fun.
