Does anyone have any thoughts on this. I have both scotty release clips (snapper and power clip I believe) does anyone have a prefrence between them? I heard the snapper was discontinued but it is still on their website. They also both sell for the same price.

Snappers!!!! Sometimes I get a bad one but so does everybody elses! I really like them! The smooth surface seems to not wear the line as fast!

Get the offshore stackers from Cabelas and rig 'em any way you like. Just cut 'em apart and redo 'em any length you like.
Every retailer selling them locally is really putting it to us. Call / Phone / Fax Cabelas!!

Offshore all the way, I use Power Pro line because of no streatch and little line resistance, and most releases have trouble holding this stuff, but not my offshore heavy. I also use their light release for kokanee - it will hold 2 lb. diameter Power Pro and release at the lightest bite.
I use a 5 foot piece of nylon seine twine between the release and the ball - that way I can bounce the bottom and not hang up my rig, and you can see the bite way better with a chunk of streatchy twine between your release and your booger ball.

Thanks guys. I have never heard of Offshore stackers. Here it is pretty much scotty, scotty, and more scotty. I will have a look next time I get to a real fishing store.

Blacks kite/downrigger releases are the best in the world, bar none, designed and built by guys that hook-up 1,000 pounders from a kite with a live baitfish on the surface. easily, and infinately adjustable, and positive release, even if you are just checking bait. ever had your gear slide all the way to the release, and then have to crank up and untangle? flat doesnt happen with the Blacks releases, you can set them light enough that a 10" trout could click it off, up to harder than your gear (rods) can pull, they make stackers too, been using them for 15 years. never had a problem, not one. and no pinching either.

I use both the Offshore and Scotty- depends with line I am using. Offshore for the Power Pro line and Scotty with mono. I use PP line when fishing deep- no stretch and less bow through the water. Mono for the first 80 feet of water.

Hey Fuzzy; Were do you find these Blacks you speak of?
Cabela's printed catalog has the Offshore Stackers in it. Look at the price for a single release, then look at the stacker. Cut 'em up and rerig 'em!
