Wondering if any of you have tried boiling new line before putting it on your reels.A buddy told me how much he likes Maxima Chameleon and I said I didn't like it because of the heavy duty memory it acquires. He said he boiled before putting it on his reel and it becomes super soft without losing any strength.Any of try this or hear of this thanx ken

The way I've done it is after being spooled and sitting for a while I will boil it to remove the memory.

i've never "boiled" the line but, i have put it in hot water and that seems to work. i've also put my spinning reel spools with line on them in the fridge in a bowl full of water, and that seems to work also. smile

Is that like freezing a credit card so you have to thaw it out before using it. That way you will only fish if it is a reel emergency wink

On OLN, Ken Schultz of Field & Stream said to soak spools in luke warm water to eliminate memory.

Pull out 50 yards or so and give it a couple of good stretches. this is also the pefect time to check for nicks. Unless you want a big fish to check it for you. eek
