It's not red hot by any means. I haven't asked a gammy but I would bet it is less than a keeper per boat. The winds haven't help as the water gets a little nasty. You should be right on target for a time to go LOL

we fished out of Chinook today......actually, the fishing was pretty good. We had a newbie in the boat who got ahold of 6 fish but only managed to boat one. the other two of us had one bite/one fish each all day. they seemed to be getting a few up by the Astoria bridge. I heard that the guys that went downstream to bouy 10 didn't do very good at all.

Sunday at tide change everything went off for us 8 fish on landed 5, got some really nice kings 32,27,25,25,19. We were right in front of chinook never had to go more than 1/2 mile away from #5 sand fence. Used delta divers with hole herring,Also red flasher 25-30 pulls. Good luck.

Werner, did you hit the end of the ebb or the end of the flood? Am going down Thurs. Will probably hit both.

A friend's boat fished the 17, 18, and 19th, generally between Ilwaco and Astoria bridge, 4 anglers one day, 2 the others. Seven kings, one steelhead, using cut plug herring. They fished from 5 to 8 hours/day. That's scratch fishing by most measures.

Some reported averages over the weekend: 1 fish/boat; 1 fish/4 anglers.

Sunday for us the bite started at 9:30 till 11:00 had six fish on lost 3 boated 3 went crabbing for 3 hours{sucked}. Then at about 2:30 poles come alive again. One thing that worked for us was find the fish outside the bait. Stay closes to #5 sand fence has worked for me last 10 years. So about an hour before each tide change seems to be the ticket for my boat. Good luck maybe will see ya down there. Im fishing next sunday and that next thursday will post a report.
