I don't have a Meteloid,but the Okuma's I do have,I like very much. I like them as much as the Shimano's on my other rods.

A little too heavy and too shiny for my taste, but an excellent reel for the price. The weight might be a plus on a 10.5 foot rod though.

I've got one on one of my float roads and I really like it. A tad heavy but seems perfect for me.

Buy the MDS 30. Perfect size for boondoggin on a Loomis 1141s and 6.3:1 ratio to boot. Exelent reel if you can find one. Had to search the web and bought the last two I could find. ***MDS 30*** Highly recomended.

I recently went thru the spinning reel debate/research as I got tired of the Shimanos sub par materials on their affordable reels (wouldnt everyone like a stella?)

For the money, I could not find a reel as nice as the Metaloid, and the materials are superior to the lower end Shimanos (under $100) , in my opinion anyway...

They are slightly heavier than some of the others, but not so that its an issue. As mentioned earlier, on longer rods the counterbalance affect is welcome.

I now own a MD 40 and MD 30 and am looking to replace my smallest spinner with an MD 20.

Just a quick question, what is the difference between the Meteloid and the Epixor. From the website I can't find a difference besides the color. Can someone help me. I was thinking about one for a summer jig rod and I will go with the high speed reel in either one.

Stay away from crap aka Okuma...purchase a Shimano or Daiwa!

Sparkey, for the money you can't beat an Okuma. I have two Avengers and love them.

I bought a Metaloid Md30, last year, it is a good reel, but it is on the heavy side. It serves its purpose, thats about it!

After discovering the Shimano Spheros 3000, at Teds in Lynnwood, I switched, and Man what a difference!!

So that is my opinion without writing a book on why..

I use it as a float reel on a 1264 Allstar.

The Okumas are good for the money, but If you have the extra get the Shimano!!
