I will be floating the Bogey on Sunday and Monday, and will be taking my 20 year old son (trying to get him involved in fishing). It's been 2 or 3 years since I floated it. We will be floating from the Ponds to Wilson's and using a Honda 50 Moped for a turnaround vehicle which has a top speed of 25 MPH. I would appreciate info on the distance and directions between launches so I know how long to expect to get back to the truck/trailer. Also, I haven't seen any reports on the Bogey since the water has been dropping, any reports?
PS - first time making a post. I tried this a few minutes ago but must have not submitted correctly so sorry if a duplicate post.

YOUR PROBALLY LOOKIN AT A 20-30 MINUTE RUN ON YOUR MOPED FROM PUT IN TO TAKE OUT. EXPECT LOTS OF COMPANY AND HAVE FUN. BOGEY IS USUALLY ALWAYS DECENT THIS TIME OF YEAR, BUT ALL THE PRESSURE MIGHT MAKE IT A LITTLE TOUGH. JUST HAVE FUN AND ENJOY THE DAY!!!

I MISSED THE DIRECTION PART OF YOUR POST SORRY. TAKE A RIGHT AT OLYPIC SPORTING GOODS IN THE TOWN OF FORKS FOLLOW THAT MAIN RD ALL THE WAY TO THE END AND YOULL RUN INTO THE HATCHERY. AS FAR AS THE TAKE OUT, ITS OFF LA PUSH RD , ABOUT 1.5-2.5 MILES PAST THE GOODMAN MAINLINE RD, IT HAS A SIGN THAT READS WILSON. I'D HAVE TO GUESS AND SAY THE WILSON TAKE OUT IS PROBALLY 6-7 MILES OUT LA PUSH RD. HOPE THIS HELPS. I'LL BE FISHING THE BOGEY SATURDAY SO IF I GET ANY INFO FOR YOU I'LL TRY AND HELP.

Report?

The early portion of the month boom of lots of fish and no anglers has totally flip-flopped:

Lots of anglers, but very few fish.

Over the past two two days, boats have been averaging less than one fish per boat according to creel counts. Guys sitting at the hatchery creek mouths have been having a little better rate of success.

A lull? Run over early? Got me!

Remember that the 5-6 days either side of Christmas is far and away the busiest timeframe of the year there. While I haven't seen the old day's crowds of 100+ boats on it, I'd guess you'd expect 50-60 a day coming up.

So, be nice and be patient smile Or else, you're going to have a very long day!

Make sure you're legal on that moped! Two of my freinds were ticketed in Forks on motorcycles last winter.

Here's another idea: Forget the moped and call Ted Miller to do the turnaround for you. Best $13 I've spent in Forks (well, almost laugh )

I don't have the number handy right now but if you do a search on the board, I'm sure it's here.

Ted's number is 360 374 5195.
Sure beats the turnaround on a moped from Wilsons after a day of fishing that stretch. I believe the distance is around 15 miles of some pretty spooky streches on a bike or moped at 25 mph. Done it too many times in the rain and cold to ever want to do it again. Bring 2 days rations if you have to hitch it.

You might even consider Wilsons to Leyendeckers for a nice drift with your kid. It is a much better stretch to moped, only about 3-4 miles of good safe road. It's got plenty of good water and would probably more enjoyable than fighting the hordes. The fish gotta go by there to get to the hatchery too.

Hope you catch a quality experience with your son and even a fish or two.

Floated it yesterday.

We got skunked just like most everyone else. Touched a couple fish in the Dimmel Drift and that was about it.

Your best bet is to fish from the bank near the creek mouths of the rearing ponds or fish the Dimmel drift in your boat. Im affraid by sunday there wont be enough water in the dimmel drift to make it worth you while unless it rains.

Bank anglers seemed to do better than the boat guys as the few fish that are around seemed to be near the hatchery. By the time you get past tall timbers you might as well sit back and enjoy the ride to the boat ramp at wilsons.
