i decided to tie up some double hook leaders and was wondering how others do it..currently i'm running 1/0 visions about 3" apart, single or double cheater between with small tuft of yarn on top hook only..bait in top hook..are there any regs on how far apart the hooks need to be....i saw some guys snagging earlier this year with some eagle claw mooching rigs(i know this because they left their garbage,of course)..does anyone use these on salmon or is it strictly a steelhead rig?? merry christmas to all(i know what i'm getting, i must have been REAL good, probably for releasing more fish than ever this year)

I really like doubles! I tied a bunch last night. I am tying 2's with small pink (#12 I think) and small pink polkadot cheaters on 8 pound Vanish.

I don't believe there is any regulation regarding distance between hooks. I tye mine as close as I can. The corkie is actually in the bend of the top hook.

I snell the bottom and use an egg bumper on the top.

Gonna tye 1's with #10 corkies today. Looks a bit windy to be fishing ...

Got one on the second cast on the XXXXXXX Friday morning!

Went swimming about 3pm. The water is very cold!

I use them as well. Usually #1 on top with a #2 or #4 behind. Sometimes for Skagit winters I'll use a #1/0 up top with a #2 in the stinger position. About 20% of the time I use a corkie in the middle. I almost always use Gamagatsu's and I tie em close also. Usually the eye of the stinger hook is right at the point where the top hooks bend is. I also face them in opposite directions. I usually use Maxima Ultragreen 10 or 12 pound but have also tied using 8 or 10 pound Seaguar fluorocarbon depending on environmental factors.

As far as fishing them goes I almost always hook fish with the stinger hook and have yet to loose one this way. Even very large 20+ pounders stay put on the #2.
