I think it was just an awkward choice of words. No point in keeping it secret, unless you're a very insecure CinC.

I once talked to a USAF security officer said it was blown out of the sky by an F-16 out of Langley, VA. Showed me a pic of the jet.

Hey, America needed heroes and a nifty catch phrase to boost support.

"Let's Roll!"

How would they know they said that? Ever try to get cell phone reception at 35,000 feet?

So they paid the families to lie about the conversations they had with there loved ones and forged the cockpit to control tower recordings. Is that what your saying?

He's saying the plane may have been shot down, instead of the hijackers crashing it.

The last cockpit to ATC contact was 1/2 hour prior to the plane crashing.

Itch...They have these cool things in APs now called airfone by Verizon....Never heard a single person say anything about calling on a cell phone...
beathead

There are also these cool things called jet engines. They don't even have propellers anymore. Pretty crazy huh? rolleyes

Your AF rent a cop is a fruit cake...

One other thing, If it was shot out of the air at 35k there would be parts all over the place. It just doesn't disappear like on Star Trek..Or Bugs Bunny :p

http://www.snopes.com/rumors/beamer.htm

For what it's worth, the folks at Snopes haven't concluded what the exact cause of Flight 93's destruction was...though they confirm the phone calls...most sources I've seen have said "cell phone", not just for Beamer's phone, but for other passengers' phone calls, too...I have seen one that said an "in flight phone", which would probably be referring to the phones attached to the seats in the plane.

http://s3.amazonaws.com/911timeline/main/flight93.html

That's a timeline of the Flight 93 saga...apparently there are active military fliers who are under the impression that 93 was shot down by a fighter jet, not crashed.

There are also numerous eye witness accounts of not only a small jet in the area of Flight 93 when it went down, but that it actually swooped down and circled the debris from the plane.

Pmartin, there were parts of 93 scattered all to hell and gone over the Pennsylvania countryside...I don't think anyone ever said anything about it disappearing.

Yeah. IF the whole plane exploded like on Star Trek or Bugs Bunny. AAM's can fly straight up a plane's heat trail from its engines and take the engine out without even removing it from the aircraft.

I'll admit that it isn't likely. I think it IS possible, though.

I know this. You'd have had to have been there to know for sure, so why is it that some here are so damn sure about something they can't possibly know? You just make up your mind that it was this way or that, and that's the end of it? Or is it that you can't admit you don't know for sure?

Hmmmmm. confused

Just wondering out loud about nobody in particular.............

How appropriate, I mean that Disney has seen fit to rerelease Dumbo. I have always known elephants could fly. Can you imagine, while we are dabbling in fantasy, what the media would be doing if there was even a remote chance that the Government had Flight 93 trashed? Al Franken could probably ride that one to the Oval Office.

What good could all this conspiracy theory possibly do?

"Would that be so aweful?"

No, I think it would be an appropriate response...one that would show that the Pres. was actually doing something after the attacks on the WTC, to boot.

There are, however, two issues that come up if 93 were shot down rather than crashed...one, if it were shot down, then someone has been lying to us again, and two, it wouldn't look good if the plane was taken over by passengers, who had two pilots in the wings, and then shot down...

It would still have been an appropriate response even if passengers had taken control, since there would not be time or the ability to 100% confirm that it was not going to be used as a weapon, but it would still look bad.

No, it wouldn't have been awful. It would have been appropriate. It would have been a grievous decision to make, however.

What good do conspiracy theories do? I didn't know they had to do something good.

Because their gubment told them so. And their gubment wouldn't lie to them. Not about WMDs, or mobile chem labs, or an Iraq-al Qaeda connection, and especially about no planes gettin' all shot up and stuff. laugh
