Election returns are showing that some good Republican candidates are taking it in the shorts today. Even Darcy Burner was slightly ahead of Reichert at the point I saw an update. Exit polls indicated that 62% of voters said national issues, mainly dissatisfaction with Bush and his policies and war adventure, were more important than local issues in this mid-term election. Even county auditor and coroner positions were being handed to Democratic candidates in cases where it was pretty clear that the Rep was the better qualified. Sad, sad, sad, but so much deserved.

Just heard the TV say that Bush is offering "the hand of bipartisanship" across the aisle. Jeebez, I hope they bite his fvckin' fingers off. Election of Bush is bringing more suffering to this nation, across more areas of life, than any could have imagined. And Pelosi as Speaker?!!?

With all the bad blood between the Republicans and Democrats preceeding this election, it will be very interesting to see what the Democrats do with their new found power.

The pressure for change and righting the "Republican wrongs" now sits in their court.

We will all have to wait and see if the actions are as powerful as the words.

Now the real challenges begin, and I hope the new congress (and hopefully, senate), are up to them; Determining a new course in Iraq and Afghanistan without bailing out; REAL solutions for our borders and illegal immigration, which translates directly into national security; reducing the deficit, and restoration of our nation's good name in to the rest of the world. All big jobs individually, and a monumental task in total. Let's see if "the hand of bi-partisanship" is extended, or if the veto pen becomes an instrument of stubborness and retribution.

Been reading the mail KK. I don't know whether to be just depressed or embarrassed by the orgiastic glee of the destroyers. Actually, I hope something good comes out of it all. But I'm not terribly optimistic. If the Dems could flush the party of the Socialists and the lefties and get back to where they once were, I suspect they could lead a grateful nation. However, I think the lefties and the radicals have too big a bite of the Dem neck. Hope not.
I see there is much for Islam to celebrate. A first, a Muslim on the Beltway. And the American voter gave Islam a boost via the vote. Intended or otherwise.
Bush must wear this and it will be interesting to see how he reacts and if he really will try to be a uniter. I don't envy him his task. The temptation to kick some of the slavering media and the lefties in their miniscule nads must be overwhelming. He must not succumb. He's gotta make it all work to be doing his job. And laugh all you want, I believe he really had the nation's best interests at heart. His perception of them at any rate.
I am really curious what the upshoot of the Bar Sinister immigration proces will be. Screw big agribusiness on this on. Plug the holes. We should have plenty of military available shortly after the usual Saigon style split.
The pendulum's oscillations will hopefully continue for many more cycles. Who knows maybe patriotism will come back into style along with the Pledge and the Cross.

Speaking of doom and gloom, bush* made a comment in his press conference this morning that went a little something like this, "...Amid this time of change, I have a message for those on the front lines. To our enemies: Do not be joyful. Do not confuse the workings of our democracy with a lack of will."

What exactly do you suppose he was implying about the Dems winning? Think it had anything to do with his comments last week about "a vote for the Democrats is a vote for the terrorists" or "...if the Democrats win, the terrorists win, and America loses"?

That's a great attitude from the guy who's supposedly president.

Of course later in the press conference he was muttering something about "reaching across the aisle" and "bipartisanship".
