My ten foot shimano convergence has seen better days. WIth all of the crazy chum fishing on the nasty this last month the top two eyes are bare metal on my rod now. I showed a buddy and he said "no problem, I'll fix it right now." He proceeded to bring an assortment of rod tips and a lighter. He then began burning the tip eye of my rod. When he was trying to slide off the tip he proceeded to snap it about an inch down from where the top eye was. So what now? I hope that this makes sense to you guys. Is my rod fixable?

Yes, just clean up the break and get a new tip. It will need to be a little larger to fit the rod now that it is a larger dia. The glue that is used to put them on is soffened with heat. So I can understand what he was trying to do. Just did not work of the manufacture used something else.

The tip may be a little stiffer now also. Good luck.

I have inadvertantly shortened many rods; and I would hafta say that w/over half of them it was an improvement. This was before I started paying upwards of $70 a rod.

Sincerely,
Roger
