I realize this belongs on some kinda computer BB but the ones I found were WAY to technical for me. My wife purchased a CD; Washington River Handbooks, for me for Xmas. I can't access the pdf file on the CD. I get an error message sayin that the file is damaged, and that it could not be repaired. I did an Internet search tryin to find out if there are any free utilities available that might repair the file but no luck. All I got was some stuff about being sure to save the file in binary and making sure that the XREF table entries are exactly 20 bytes. Does any one know of an easy fix? Binary and XREF tables are way beyond my computer literacy.
Appreciate any ideas/suggestions
Thanx -
Sincerely, Roger

RRR,
If you've got the hard disk space, try copying it, and opening the file from there. Chances are that the CD may be scratched or defective, and that's why you're having trouble opening it.
If all else fails, have your wife take it back (or send it, whatever the case may be) and get a new one. I hope this helps, maybe some computer geniuses out there will chime in with another solution. Good luck.

You may also want to try updating your PDF Viewer.

Thanx everyone. Still can't get used to communicating w/people I've never met, guess I'm sort of a dinosauer. Constantly amazed by how helpful everyone is.
Chumeater, thanx I'll do that--didn't really wanna bug ya cuz I know how that lil project grew on ya.
The CD is new and doesn't have any defects that I can see, (my eyes are gettin pretty bad...), I did update to v5.05 and also tried savin to the HD. I've had this trouble before when downloading pdf files off of the web.
My wife and I are really lookin forward to meeting people from this BB when we finally get back to Washington.
Take care n tight lines to all
Sincerely, Roger

I had the same problem with my copy...2 of the files opened ok, but PSR23.pdf got me "file read error has occurred" and would not open.
