Have you checked to see if it needs to be lubed up? Just a thought, I had the same problem with one of my curados and after a little lube the noise was gone. Just an idea, hope it helps.

I wouldn't worry about it, I have a new 4601 C4 and it does the same thing. That's just the way they are, doesn't affect it in any way. By the way what did yoy get it for off of eBay. I got mine for a birthday present and my mom paid $37.99 at Bob's here in Longview, they had a great deal about a month before Christmas.

I have a 6500 that does the same thing. It might just be the sound of the ball bearings which is normal. I also have a 550 plus that doesn't have ball bearings and it casts very quietly. Both are great reels.

Those C4's tend to make a whizzing noise. I would call the factory and ask them if putting a little lighter grease in the reel would help.

Try putting a drop of rem oil (the teflon gun oil) into each of the bearings, and on the level wind up front. I like rem oil because it doesn't seem to thicken much in cold weather.
