Has anyone ever seen a product that will lock a scotty downrigger from being removed from the boat/mount, or do I have to make them myself? On occassion, I would like to leave my D/R's mounted overnight. Is there a market for this?

Guess I will have to make a pair for myself as noone can tell me that they have seen any. As for whether or not anybody else would be interested ( except for you - ELKRUN ), I guess the jury is still out.

Sounds like a very good idea to me. My suggestion is keep the idea zipperlipped untill prototypes and production can be figured out economically. I had taken an idea and prototype to a Redmond based flyfishing reel company, they told me it was a very interesting idea and they would get back to me. You can probably guess what happened next. I was at Kauffmans fly shop a couple months later and there it was , my product with someone elses name on it. Live and learn. Hope this helps. Best of luck!

If you come up with a good usable lock for scotty downriggers, keep it quiet, approach scotty and you stand a chance to make a good royalty off of your idea. A friend of mine designed the new scotty anchor lock system and he gets paid for every unit sold.

The only lock I've found is the one on the garage door! Let us know if you come up with anything!

rigged up a way to lock my penns onto the boat once. Itr worked so well the dirty *#@!! no goods ended up taking the whole boat instead. OOPs I think i've got too much time on my hands. Time to go fishing
