We took 2 boats down the yakima and it was my brothers first time. He swamped his boat thank goodness his 2 sons made it shore. I'll get his boat out tomorrow but I have a problem. He lost all 3 of his oars and there is no place in Yakima that sells db oars. So I'm asking if anyone in the Yakima area that wants to sell a set of oars tonight(Wednesday) I would gladly buy them. I will travel if I have to. I hope I get a reply.

Why don't you get ahold of the fellas at Red's. I'd be suprised if they wouldn't lend you a pair considering the circumstances. I live in Snoqualmie and would be happy to if you wan't to make the trek.

Yo, Duck - Glad everyone is okay. There are three guide services/oufitters in E-burg or on the river - I bet ANY would be glad to help you out:

http://www.redsflyshop.com/

Ask for Steve Joyce (owner)

http://www.worleybuggerflyco.com/

Ask for Steve Worley, Owner

http://www.theeveninghatch.com/

Not sure who owns this one - Jack something.

I bet they all already know of your predicament. I'd be surprised if they have not already offered help.

Good luck!

Back Eddy

Red is a great guy and I would bet he would lend you a set of oars to get the boat out. He is on the right side as you are driving through the canyon from E-Berg

I am headed over there for a float on the Yak on Sunday. I could bring my set as a loaner as I am going down in another person's boat.

Let me know and I will bring them along if you need to borrow some, or I could buy a pair at Sportco and bring them over if I can get paid in cash on Sunday morning.

Let me know.

The questions is did I get the boat out? The answer is NO. We grapled on the stump where it's at but the current is too fast to pull the db over. What a headach. I wish my sled had enough power but it doesn't. We'll try again tomorrow. By the way should I ware my neoprene waders or not. Might be a chance of me swamping too. The duck

driftboater thank you for the input but this guide does not drift the same stretch of river as I do. It is very rare to see any dbs where I fish. He lives in E-burg and I live in Yakima and I never fish the canyon. Thanks for the advice.

Hey Duck,

Just curious - your post implies you fish closer to Yakima - below Roza, then? Or, are you above the Canyon in the Cle-Elum area? I'm guessing it's the former, as you mentioned your sled. Was wondering how you'd use a sled in the canyon. Guess I just answered my own question. ..

Good luck with the recovery. Let us know how it turns out.

Eddy

BackEddy, I am below Roza in fact I'm below Sunnyside Dam but if I had a salvage to do on a drift boat above Roza, I would not hesitate to use a sled. Laws or no laws. I wouldn't let any law keep me from my db. The Duck

Duck,

My buddy Rick Bock told me about your incident, thank goodness everyone is okay. I also am from Yakima and have floated that stretch many times from K-Mart to the I-82 bridge, and there's some hairy stuff in there.

I'll see if I can round up some oars for ya. My buddy and I are planning on fishing the canyon tomorrow, but let me see what I can do. Otherwise, I've got a sled and depending on exactly where your boat is, I think I can run in. The only problem is that I'll need to be somewhere near a deep channel so I can plane (I have an 18' Weldcraft w/ V6, so she's heavy).

Get me some details.
