Well, you'd never tell it was spring by looking at the river behind the house today, resembles late January or something at the moment. BUT, today really seemed like spring when I mowed part of my lawn for the first time (the rest is still awaiting for limb pickup after all these spring storms) and watching the hummingbirds flock to our feeder today.
Another 10 days and the sandhills should be flying overhead, then another 10-20 days and we head north ...
Any other tried and true signs of spring out there?

The crows doing the mating thing across the parking lot up on the roof, tumbling down the roof, falling off the roof all while sqwaking at the top of their lungs. All this at the Des Moines Marina Saturday while my son and I are walking up for dinner He just had to know what the crows were fighting about... Took us about a half hour to do a 3 minute walk...

You take your golf clubs out for a walk and remember the reason you said you would practice more this year.

Yardwork to do, Baseball to listen to while you do it. Excited to play more often outside and with my 2 year old after being cooped up inside all winter. Great spring Slush to ski on. Nothing like pounding the bumps and jumps on a 60 degree day with a T-shirt on. Good call on the Dogwoods, one of my favorite trees. An old white cherry tree in full bloom can't be beat though. Spring Trout fishing. Spring Salmon Fishing. Getting closer to Summer Salmon Fishing

Good call h20 on the skunk cabbage. Many of our Tulips are in full bloom in our yard, but the recent downpours beat some of them to the ground. We're hoping a little TLC will have us enjoying them again before we go Dogwoods in full bloom always mean peak of springers in some rivers! Lots of sandhills come up the coastline, I haven't heard any yet freddy ... but I'm sure I will soon, it'll be helpful if we can get the waters back down so I can get back on the water! I feel for those of ya that suffer allergies in the spring, fortunatley, the worst I get is a slightly stuffy nose ... lots of alder pollen floating around out here, I'm sure lots are hating life right now!

Headline in the liar sheet reads: When Cottonwoods Bloom Yakima Smallmouth Heats Up!
Big drawback to Cottonwoods...all that crap they dump in the water fouls your plugs. So another good sign that Spring is here is having to reel your plugs in every five minutes to remove the cottonwood junk.
