When both the weather and the fishing says it's still steelhead season!!

We were all cold, drowned rats our last day out as the rivers went out, but Jamie and Fishgal shared the boat and look what they found!

We almost thought this one was gonna land in the boat on one of his multiple leaps off the gunnel:

A heckuva nice brute for Fishgal, but that turned out to be one of the little ones smile

Who says April is too late for some bruisers?? This is our biggie of the season!

I think I can hold off on springers for a few more weeks with steelies like this still to be found wink

I just gotta ask the question. How the heck could a guy want to kill a fish like that?

41.5 x 21.5 puts him at 24.76 pounds smile

I hear ya Hawk, an awesome sight seeing him roar off with a rooster tail. But we're gonna have to have a talk about you discussing wood in a thread with Fishgal wink

PS ... My Monday and Tuesday fellas had to bail yesterday, so you can always get a last-minute flight out here and we can let let Fishgal open a can of steelie whoop-ass on you this time around smile

Or anyone else who would like to go last minute, just give us a shout!

"Thanks" to Bob & Fishgal for the last minute ride and getting me into some "SWEET" water!.... I've been fishing close to 30yrs, and have never taken or thought about a guided river trip before, but after floatin' along with those two.... I would surely go w/them again!......
Its kinda nice not having to hook the trailer & boat up, walk through 1/2 mile of heavy rainforest, making sure you brought your gear... and especially not having to tie a new leader on when your fingers are cold! (Fishgal can relate w/me on this one!)

Oh yeah Bob, acouple of guys i know do not believe i caught that fish w/ a imx1082s and 10lb test, could you confirm. and gonna work on that Monday spot "anyone up for a ride"

I can confirm ... 1082 with 10 lb. smile

I'm also very happy that we had a boat to give chase and keep him out of all those rootwads ... otherwise, he might still be there hangin' on to that fish wink

Looks like I might be able to have a Monday partner for ya smile ReiterRat is headed out this way and we'll have one seat open!

What rivers still have Steelies in 'em? I'm new to Seattle... looking for a good river ... somewhere up north? Also... better flyfishing... or other?

Thanks in advance for the help!... I'm hoping to go on Sunday.

There may not be a tommorow for CR springers. I heard from a reliable source that the Columbia River may be shut down for good after today - between the overharvest by the commercials, the pittance we possibly injured by releasing them, and huge allocation that has to be dedicated to upriver tribal non-selective fishing impacts, the allowable take of upriver ESA fish has been exceeded. We'll know by Tuesday so they say mad
