This is getting ridiculous. Every thought, every penny, every spare minute goes to river fishing. My backyard is a disaster. My truck needs new tires, I have a master's program I'm supposed to be working on, and I'm married to a wonderful woman.... Why do I put everything that's important in the rear view when it comes to standing in a river and waiting to fight a fish for 10 minutes. I don't get it but it sure is fun....

Beleive me it's not ridiculous, I think that its perfectly normal. What would you be doing right now without fishing, probably working and being with your family way to much. I am hooked on it. I am going today after school for the steelhead. Even though I know that there is very little steelhead in the river that I am fishing in. But that river is close to my house, but I don't care. Just for the thrill of fishing.

The only known cure is to fish real hard all day and catch alot of fish. The cure works for a few days but the additional doses are needed for the pain.

I am very fortunate to have a understanding wife.... Except I spend the majority of my time knocking out the honey do's after work..
Heck half the time I don't know how I still keep going... 5 acres, 5 horses, 2 cows, 5 dogs, 2 cats....

Kudos go to to the little lady at home... all that plus a full time daycare at home.

I seem to get away with murder the way my wife puts up with me.

I start to sweat every time I see that beautiful green color of a river. Yeah, my wife puts up with a bit.

I can remember every single detail about my first steelhead: from how much it weighed to what i was using to the weather and the exact spot i was standing etc. but the only thing i remember about the first time i got laid was that it was the last day of school in 9th grade at some huge party. go figure


if you read the unibombers manifesto(search it online), much of it talks about why people get so much natural fulfilment from fishing and camping ect. I know that he was a nut case so spare me the diatribe but that part actually makes alot of sense when you read it.

I feel your pain (everyone).

All I can think about, when at work, is where I am going to be fishing on my days off.

I think about location, lures, which boat ramp, what fish will I be targeting, the weather, tides, what I will need to buy to have a successful trip, who should I invite to fish with me, lunar cycle, ramp fees, what fish is in season, and such..........

I think we hall have the same problem. At least fishing gets us out of the house and is a reason to go explore somewhere.

Assuming that scientists are correct about entropy, the world is heading towards disorder. If this theory applies to living beings, then I can safely say that I'm heading towards insanity. Fishing for me is like taking a medicine that slows down the trip to insanity. If I weren't fishing about once a week I would be a one bored feller with nary a thing to do. Now if only I could start catching fish then maybe I could slow down my insanity even more...

Hmmmmm.......My wife is the sweetest thing, I feel guilty leaving her for a day to go fishing. She doesn't mind that I have turned the family summer fun boat into a bloodied up downriggin' fish killing machine. She also doesn't mind that instead of a nice little Honda car I bought her an Explorer so I can take more people fishing than I can with the truck. Hasn't said a word about the mess I make out of her kitchen cleaning fish, or the room I take up in the freezer. Suffice it to say that after a long day fishing I make sure to save enough energy to "take care of her" that night. Yep, I have two addictions. Good thing I don't drink much beer!
