Another question to add: I just purchased a pressure washer. Anyone had success applying wax with one?

I have used lots of different products over the years on my own boat and those we do for customers. The best I've found is the 3M line of cleaners and waxes. They make several different kinds. They have a basic cleaner and wax (minor oxidation removal), a Fiberglass Restorer and Wax (for heavy oxidation removal) and a couple of different types of basic wax. These products are sold at most marine retailers. If you don't want these just make sure you use a good carnuba based wax. You should wax your boat at least twice a year and three to four times is better. The salt water environment is tough on wax. I wouldn't waste my time trying to apply wax with a pressure washer. The waxes applied like this on cars in drive thru's is cheap and it doesn't cover and stay on a car very well let alone a boat.

I have always used Maquiars waxes and cleaners on my boats. A good boat wash concentrate of TurtleWax car wash soap is a good idea too..just a little in the water for washing. Lately I found a new product to me called "Mother's" cleaner /wax. I use that now and it is easy and high quality. Follow up with an application of Maquiars professional Carnauba wax and you boat will be protected all year.
They also make an aluminum/stainless polish that is great. Applying wax via a pressure washer is not effective. There is another product I just picked up called "SaltX" which is a concentrated liquid you mix with water and it gets the salt off your boat and provided a slight protective coating as well. It is used to flush out the engines as well by using a feeder. The other brand is called "Salt Away."

Believe it or not, my dad used to use spray on furniture polish w/ wax and it did an excellent job. Two cans a year and it removed the oxidation, too (red boat).

Ray, use the 3m products, and I expect to see that boat shining at Lapush, the next halibut opener.
