Well don't know how it ended up at the 2pm cut off for weighing in, but when Rick68 and I weighed in at 1pm a 24lber was tops on the board. Fishinng overall seemed pretty slow. We caught a few shakers and had one double hook-up, one on a Hootchie one on herring hood, but unfortunately during the battle Rick lost his fish and I wound up a little 9lb 9oz fish on the board.

Will be back at it in the morning!

Nice work UM. We mooched the bay all morning and quit at 11:30. Had one good strike, but it could have been a dogfish. Looks like all the trollers are getting the fish. We were the only boat I saw mooching. We'll be doing it again tomorrow. Good luck. With only 14 fish on the board and prizes for the 1st 40 finishers, you guys could be in really great shape. Good luck. Tight lines. Brass

UM,
You did not miss much at southworth this morning either, I got one small king about 12 or so on a GSB, and picked up a fat little 6 lb silver at dolphin later. But besides a few shakers, thats all I saw caught. I'm sending you a personal message next...

JR,

How many folks entered the derby? Well at least you got on the board! Knock 'em out tomorrow.

We need to start making arrangements for the Disco Bay Derby next Feb.

NEN,
Thaks for the note...I'll let you know how it goes. had a buddy at SW this mornning and he had a double hookup at first light, he and his fishing partner boated a 20 and a 14 down past the copper roof, then he said it was dead the rest of the morning. Should be better...is it the lack of rain maybe??? I don't know.

Last I heard there was 23 fish on the board and the 24# was still the biggest.

My fishing partner had a stroke and is under going surgery at tacoma general for 3 blockages. So I didnt fish it.

The indians netted the night before the derby again. Thats a shame considering that the poggie club puts alot of work into the gorst hatchery, I would think they could hold off for one night.

I launch at Port orchard or Manchester
I set the downrigger at 35 feet and troll from 45 to 70 feet of water infront of annapolis dock. I use a flashy flasher and a army truck colored coyote spoon. My biggest at the sinclair fishery last year was 27#
good luck.

Well the 24lber held up and won the derby. I heard that the nets were out again on Saturday night and a whopping 8 fish were added to the board today. 31 Total for 2 days of fishing confused !

Nen, thanks for the note last night...Rick68 and I picked up one of those 8 fish at 0600 in 38 feet of water, you were right on the money cool ...on herring too.

So Rick and I were both on the board but couldn't walk away with the cash. I did come home with a nice set of $90 dollar binoculars and Rick took home a $60 Smith and Wesson hunting Knife and we both have fresh nookie for the BBQ. I'd say that was a good weekend!

Finally met the some of the guys from the Poggie club and they were all great people and put on a fun derby. They also said they hope to be back to the 2nd week in August next year.

Thanks again NEN!

UM

Right on UM,
I went to the M's game this afternoon, otherwise I would have been out there too. I still would have given you the tip...tomarrow. laugh laugh
Yah the Pogies are a great group of guys, now that I'm done with school I may join thier crew. As far as SW on Saturday, I did not get out as early as I wanted, but it sounds like your buddy did alright.
Congrats to you and rick, did you see the name on the winner?
