Fished the Slag pile on the tide change tonight and caught two nice hens. One on a hooch and the other on cut plug herring.

One was at least 18 pounds. The other about 8 lbs. Bite started about 30 minutes prior to slack.

Not many boats out. Beautiful night to be on the water. The two fish was a beautiful thing as well.

Is anybody catching any fish from the clay banks? Or the bait shop dock.

I took my two kids out yesterday morning from Pt. Defiance for their first open boat saltwater fishing. I had forgotten how cool dogfish are when you are a kid!!! eek We fished Dalco, along Owens Beach and the Slag Pile and saw one net come out. I hope they are late.

I mooched a 21 lb. hen (she was silver dollar bright) in the afternoon at the Clay Banks. My buddy got an 8 lb'er and I lost another about that size earlier in the morning.
Saw a few nice fish caught throughout the day, but fishing seems to have slowed somewhat (I caught an 19 lb. mature hen and a 9 lb. football the other day).
Though there doesn't seem to be a great deal of baitfish in the area, each of the fish I caught had a belly full of herring and were taking my cut-plugs deeply.
Good luck.

There is boats trolling around the bait shop, so I would say yes, but I didn't look to see if there was anybody fishing from the dock by the bait shop if that is what you mean.
