The weather experts are already talking predictions of a snowy winter heading our way for the 2003-2004 season. Keep your fingers crossed fellow snowboarders.

Farmers Almanac: http://www.almanac.com/weather/region15.php

"Winter will be relatively mild. Although most days will be milder than normal, cold air will dominate between Christmas and New Year, in early February, and in early to mid-November. Expect above-normal precipitation, with most spots getting more snow than normal. The most widespread snow will occur during late December and early February, with the heaviest rainfalls in mid-November, early and mid-January, and early February.

April and May will be a bit cooler than normal, with above-normal rainfall in most spots due to a storm in mid- to late April."

I love casting a line for a steelie on the way back from a quickie at Stevens, but didn't get a chance to last year. Anyone else do that?

I especially liked this part...

"The most widespread snow will occur during late December and early February, with the heaviest rainfalls in mid-November, early and mid-January, and early February."

I hope this means we might get a decent steelhead season for a change.

Get the sandbags ready...

Heavy snow... milder than normal = Big Floods...

Yep, sounds like a typical winter...

Just once I'd like to see a foot or two that would stick around for more than a day or two... Give me a good week of snow and Ice that would turn this area on its ears... cool

Cool link AM. I was going through some archive photos from turn of the century Seattle and there was a bunch showing the people ice skating on Lake Union, the entire lake! Unreal to think how the winters used to be here.

Sky-Guy,
You know you have lived a full day when your carving turns in the morning and catching steelies in the afternoon.

I hear ya Lunch Time. I have only been that lucky once. Caught the fish on the way up by the mouth of the Wallace, then left her on snow in the parking lot to chill while we made turns. I have never had time on the way back, plus it is usually dark.

i'd like to get some snow around christmas and have it stick around a while like it did in 1999. it's always fun fishing in the snow, and tossing what you catch on the bank and having it turn into a popsicle

Aunty - great link. And to think I was complaining bitterly the other day when my cable was out!!! Puts things in perspective.

I have never seen so much squirrel activity around my house as I have this fall. An omen?

Reading those story's in AuntyM's link, I think I better git ta putin up some vittles fer the livestock. Already laid in a whole bunch of smoked salmon and I think I'll git another sack of flour. I too, have the seen the squirrells running around madly, playing with their nuts and burying them. May the Chinook wind blow before March!

I heard a meteorologist from the UW say on TV that it was going to be a "neutral" winter, no El Nino or La Nina, and that's when we typically get lots of storms and sometimes flooding. Skyguy, you snowboard, too? I one time rode Stevens and then fished Reiter, but no steelhead. I'm usually too damned tired after riding...

Salmonbelly-
This season will represent my fifteenth year snowboarding. Still have my old Avalanche sparrow-tailed board with nylon strap bindings.

I have calmed down alot at my ripe old age of 30, and just freeride real hard these days. No more triple-lindy's for me!
