Need some help. My father from MN is in town and we are going to take him on the Chehalis.

Well, it is raining like crazy. Is the river going to be fishable by then if it keep raining? What if the rain slows down?

Please advise based on your past fishing trips.

Thx,

I have a dad who wants braggin rights in Walleye land.

Not there, not then. That river is running at about 29,500 CFS at Satsop right now, unless you plan on flossing blind fish. All Grays Harbor County rivers are puking mud and whole trees.

Cowlitz is a better bet for "something". Try hiring a guide. Sometimes the Cowlitz will become offcolor and muddy for weeks after one of the tribs blows out. Cowlitzfisherman knows which trib. The Cowlitz is regulated by a dam, so you have a much better chance there of having clear water.

Have fun!

If you known someone with a small boat. You might try fishing at Lake Scanewa (Cowlitz Falls Dam). They have been doing really good on coho that have been trucked up and released at the PUD boat ramp in the lake.

There are several guides that are fishing that area right now. River flows have come on both the lower and upper Cowlitz, so I don't know what the water conditions are in the lake.

Lower Cowlitz (below Mayfield) is running at 9300 cfs and will make fishing really tuff unless you want to walk in at Blue Creek. It's almost to early to expect any good fresh fish at Blue Cr.
