One of the posts on people Snagging Chums reminded me of something that happend a couple of years ago.

I was fishing the Wallace and walked back to where I had left my pack on the bank. Right in front of my pack was a Chum with a BIG weighted Trebble-Hook in it's back (This pissed me off royaly!). The fish was still in great shape. The thing that surprised me was that the fish stayed there, did not move, splash/thrash etc. until I pulled the hook out. Then it just swam away. As most of you know. when we come on fish that are still in good shape in the shallows, they bolt. Not this one. Kind of made me wonder if somebody/something was looking out for it.

Well it's the last day of the Year and another one happened. I caught a 10lb wild king in the Snoqualmie this AM. On a pink Worm no less. Never heard of one this late.

That wasn't an Atlantic Salmon was it? I caught one in Puget Sound last summer.

Oh so many F/S/S things have happen while fishing. Here's my list for 2003

Funny: The look on the face of the seal I took a 22 pound springer away from down at Cathlamet - stared at me for the longest time like he was trying to memorize my boat :p

Strange: Hooked and landed a 4 1/2 foot sturgeon just below the Astoria Bridge - while trolling for coho in 25 feet of water at 3+ MPH using a diver, fishflash, and anchovy

Sad: Sturgeon season wasn't open Also, with a record 900,000 fall chinook returning to the Columbia, WDFW let us have one a day at B10, and when the fish finally went upriver they let us have maybe one weekend of good fishing before putting the gillnets in and wiping them out so the commercial boys could sell them for 13 cents a pound

The fishing was GREAT! The catching could have used some improvement however........

Funny/Strange:

I actually saw a guy strip down buck nekkid and jump in a winter river over his head to retrieve his spinner that had hung on a snag. The guy might have actually been part polar bear... he was about the same size and almost as hairy!

Sad:

Guys who bring kids fishing and don't take the time to set them up with decent gear or clothing much less show any concern for the kid catching fish or otherwise having a good time outdoors.
