Never fished in the area around Levenworth...anything worth my time? I'm stuck on a four day family get together....while everyone plays in the snow and socializes, I'd just as soon fish....

Suggestions? I leave Thursday morning....HELP! LOL beer

Not much going on over there this time of year. Wenatchee and Icicle are closed (Wenatchee might be open for whitefish). You might be able to ice fish on Fish Lake north of Leavenworth. If you're into fly fishing, Rocky Ford Creek north of Ephrata can be good in winter, but that's more than an hour away from Leavenworth. I suggest making regular stops at Gustav's to sample their selection of fine ales.

Fun5,

You're pretty screwed if you want to fish up there this time of year...all the rivers are part of the critical habitat for ESA listed steelhead. Pretty much the only time that anything is up is when the Icicle is open for springers, but you're still five or six months away from that.

The suggestion of ice fishing on Fish Lake is a good one. I've got a cabin near Leavenworth and used to spend a lot of winter time up there ice fishing. If you want to do that, go ahead and send me an e-mail and I'll help you get set up.

Fish on...

Todd.

hehhehe....Thanks, Todd, Salmonbelly, and Jeff for the help, but I guess I'll just bring a good book. My fat ass would probably fall through the ice. Catch a few for me ........ beer

In that case, Fun5, take Salmonbelly's advice and hit Gustav's...and what's the name of the other brewery? Is it Icicle Creek Brewery? It's right on the main drag...

You should drive out to the hatchery on the Icicle and check it out...it's a pretty impressive facility.

Fish on...

Todd.

Yeah....it basically sucks around here now! The Wenatchee is open for whitefish (#12-14 hook required, check regs) below the Highway #2 bridge just leaving Leavenworth to the East. There's plent of steelhead in the river though, and just East of Leavenworth a mile or two is good water for steelehead, er..um, I mean whitefish. Use a "whitefish fly" avaialble at the Der Sportsman in Leavenworth of just a colored egg pattern or #14 corky. My buddies have been doing pretty good doing this. Not sure of the ice on the lake, it was getting sloppy last week. If ya need more info, send me an email! snit
