Get an Anglers Workshop catalog.. Then order an 8 or 9 weight fiberglass fly rod blank and the trimmings for building a casting rod..... Best damn plug rod you will ever find..... Don't knock this if you have not fished one!!

Dlbutte: Lamiglas makes a very nice rod "just for plug pulling". I have a Lamiglas G1300T, 8-15, 7 1/2 '...Had 2 of them for 10+ yrs., used very little cause I changed my fishing style. Sold 1 to a guide, would let this 1 go for a lot less than $100-200. Email at the yahoo address......if interested. "Worse day sport fishing, still better than the best day working"

I just built 2 nice 7 1/2' one piece plugs rods for Lucky Strike Guide Service. I used a Rainshadow IP965*M blanks and Blue Zirconia Guides. The blank hads a great tip and allows him to run even the small hotshots and enough backbone to run up to k-15s wrapped with sardines. a rod like this would be around $ 150.00 with titanium guides and metalic wraps. E-mail me if you are interested or want more info.

The best plug rod is a G-Loomis WTR 941c 7'10" 10-17# Plug Rod It use to be a Mag bass rod. Now they made it a Walleye rod for $160 you can't beat it....Ross

Word for word what Willie just said.
I hate fighting fish on the fiber rods (mushy), but man, you almost never lose a fish on the takedown on a FS83 or FS85.
I've had way too many plugs come flying back at me after a monster take down on my 901's or 964's.

Though not in your price range, I like the GL3 HSR930c's. Agree with parker 'bout the fenglass rods. (Excellent DR rods) If you find one similar, in your price range, then that'd be my suggestion for a steelhead plug rod.
