I really appreciate all the info. Looks like the 3rd or 4th week of July is the ticket for large kings. Thanks again.

I fished out of Tahsis for a week last summer, with success that did not equal my hope.

There were three main areas, inside the inlet along the south wall, around the Pinnacles and Ferrier Point. None of the areas were a secret as most looked like Bouy 10 on a crowded day.

Had less than stellar luck. Lost a king to a boat that ran over my lines despite repeated yelling. Lost another that ran under the boat and frayed my line on the bottom.

We picked up a few fish but didn't do as well as most. Saw plenty of boats get their limits and head home. Appeared we were doing the same as everyone else, but I swear there must have been a local secret scent or spin that equalled success. Next time, I might show up without a boat and pay for a guided trip just to figure out what I was doing different.

I would say put the tightest spin you can on it.
A friend of mine doing the exact same thing I was But having a kind of spin-roll thing going only pick up a few. I had to take his kids the last day to get them there fish. And we got-em.

We fished there last year out of a 19 foot inboard sled and did well on kings, brought home posession limits. We know some "locals" and there are some local "secerets". A guide would be a good idea for a day. I wouldn't take an outboard sled up there though, especially a flat bottom, having owned one myself. The water is covered with floating seaweed and crap that would play hell with that setup. The only way it would work is if you were staying somewhere really close to where you fishing and didn't have to run very far.
