Those George/Carroll inlet fish as well as Neets Bay fish are open to anyone but they are boots, most are black the ones that aren't are well on there way to being black, if you do fish them, leave the bait at home and troll spoons/plugs.
If your limited as to how far you can travel I would hit either Survey pt. north of town or Mountain pt. south of town (you'll see lots of boats at either place). If you can travel 20 miles I would fish Ship Is., hug the mainland shoreline inside of Ship Is. in 50-60ft. of water, I took alot of kings (and numerous 40-50lbs. fish) off that shoreline, also good butt fishing straight off either the north or south end of the island in 160' to 300ft. of water.
Another good king spot is Camaano Pt. 1/2 way between town and Ship Is.
Grindall Is. is another decent king spot and close to that is 20 fathom bank which is 1 of the better halibut grounds in the area.
If you have a boat with long range capability then don't waste any time at the spots I've mentioned, head to the south end of P.O.W. Is. to a place called Cape Chacon, 1 stop shopping for everything salmon, halibut, lings, and reds all in the same general area, but its a long run (35 to 40 miles, 20 miles of open water)
Good fishing, bring lots of film
