Shhhhh! Don't tell any one. ;\) The kings are starting to show at Redondo. I caught this 20# king Friday afternoon fishing with a white/glow hoochie behind a white/glow Hot Spot 80' down in 85' of water. Not to bad for my first trip out to Redondo this year.

How length of leader was hoochie behind flash Hot Spot? How many feet was from downrigger ball ? Did you use a black box for electric dr?
Thanks,
Steven

When I use hoochies I put the hoochie back two and a half times the length of the flasher. When using spoons I go three times the length of the flasher. I know my measurements go against conventional wisdom (Salmon University) but it works. I like to troll pretty fast (2-3 MPH) too.

I usually put out 30-40 feet of line before I connect the line to the release clip.

I don't use my black box when fishing for migrating fish. I only use the BB for blackmouth. My 'riggers are manuals.

The 'rigger mounts that I have are available at Sportco. I forget who makes them but they are a universal mount. The 'rigger base bolts on to a 90 degree piece of metal then that piece slides in to another piece that is bolted on to the side of the boat with six stainless screws. The side of the boat will have to break before the 'rigger mount will. Very strong.

Maybe Winterun can chime in here with the brand name of the 'rigger mount.

So... now a question... how big an aluminum do you have...? and do you luanch and fish alone?

I have a 14 lund 15 hp merc.... and was trying to decide about fishing redondo and desmoinse area... but there are times when I would have to do it alone... and wondered if you did it....

Tight Lines....

I have the same set up as you do wabowhunter. I have been fishing Redondo with it for four years now. Sometimes I fish alone sometimes I have a fishing buddy. Usually, when fishing in the afternoon, I am by myself. I just happen to have the girlfriend with me this last time. Landing a 20# king is a little bit more fun when you are by yourself though. After two or three big fish you learn how to use the net in one hand and rod in the other hand.
