Who you callin fat, Stihl? \:o

My official legal opinion (subject to disagreement from the bench and bar) is that everybody is putting way too much emphasis on "intact" versus clipped. The key to the whole thing in my mind is whether or not there is a "healed scar." Bad clip, short clip, re-growth is not relevant.

Any gamie, prosecutor or judge who disagrees with me about this is clearly wrong.

And like my friend Adipose Soup, I will gladly represent anybody who gets a ticket for such a fish.

I had two of six of these fish in Everett last year and the game warden said that if there is any evidence of a scar that it was a hatchery, wether it had a partial (in one case almost half) an adipose or not. She looked at the fish and we went on our merry way. Quite nerve wracking.

Sounds like maybe I got lucky?

From the definition of intact, what does a castrated fish look like?

This subject seems to be a study in semantics and interpretation. Take the ticket (that you probably won't get) go to court with proof that the scales of your fish exactly match the genetics of the hatchery strain in that system. A state biologist has the data and with public information laws, simple, you win!

Call the fish cop at home and inform him/her of their mistake.

Gather the scales before going in, take a photo with a witness, have several experts verify the genetic results, file affidavits and voila' you win!

I guess this really is up to each individual, just make sure you are right (not just thinking you are right) and be polite. Photos help.

If it doesn't feel right, don't do it!

SteelieDan,
you are a good guy. I didn't know you are a lawyer LOL

I say BBQ the damn fish on the boat and have a nice lunch and then catch a real hatchery

On the Clearwater in Idaho its common to get a fish with a full Adipose fin and the Dorsal fin is gone... It sucks but we throw them back.. even though its way obvious that these are brats.....
