I was planning on posting this as soon as I did, but it slipped my mind!

Well the terms worked out pretty good, and I think I'll be sitting happy when I leave (June 28th). Training is as follows: Basic, AIT, Airborne, RIP.

Airborne Bonus and 4year enlistment bonus (11k total), and starting rank of E3. MGIB for a total of about 34.5k.

I'm thinking I may end up taking advantage of the Green to Gold program while in. I thought it kinda odd (I'm not complaining), that a starting O-1 makes almost twice what a starting teacher makes in WA.

Curtis

P.S. The funniest part of my contract is that at least 10% of it is me promising not to be a homosexual while I'm in. Has the ARMY actually had problems with that?!?

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Wow.. thats pretty good money when I look back at it. When I completed RIP in 1978 and arrived at Ft Lewis, my take home pay was right at 525 a month. No such thing as an enlistment bonus ( those were only for re-upping )

Congrats and take care.. life is going to get real hard on you when you leave jump school and walk under the 1/75 banner at Benning.. Keep it in your mind that while a lot of things you are going to experiance may seem to have no reason at the time, you will understand later why things had to be that way. Best of luck to you.

Congrats BBVD! I hope the military is as great to you as it was to me. Take advantage of everything you can while you can. The opportunity will only present itself once!

Lastly... 20 years goes by quickly! I start my separation/retirement leave in early January.
More time for fishing!

Best of luck Brother in Arms!

Congrats, Curtis. Maybe you'll get lucky and get back here with the 2nd Ranger Bat or 1st Group.

Although you'll discover the op-tempo is going to be pretty extreme, try to get as much college as you can out of the way while you're in. Green to Gold is a good, deal, too.

And Krusty, you gotta admit it says something that even a gay guy has the balls to put on a uniform and fight for his country. Maybe you could learn something in that.

Elvis, seems the only thing that mouth of yours is good for is bobbing for pumpkins or fellating some over-endowed member of your gender.

Hey thanks guys, much appreciated!

I'm definitely hoping to score a spot in Strikers... It would certainly be nice to be stationed close to home! \:D

June 28th just needs to roll on around here soon...

[QUOTE] As to the last part, I always thought it was the Navy, but be sure and let us know, when you find out !!

Actually to tell you the truth the biggest branch of the armed forces with the gay problem is the marines ( go figure people you wouldve never of thought about )

The Army's putting together another Stryker brigade on Lewis early next year. The 3rd Brigade just got back from Iraq and won't be going anywhere again for another six months or so. There is also a brigade slated for Alaska, and one for Hawaii.

But if you have RIP in your contract, I think you're more likely to end up in a Ranger Bat. The Stryker brigades are mostly straight-leg or mechanized infantry guys as far as the 11B's are concerned. But there is a Ranger battalion here that you could probably get into.
