I recently had to add some rod holders to my new boat. After a test run downriver with a couple of people we decided to place two just fwd of the front bench seat (almost at the passengers elbow) as opposed to the corner of the knee rest. This has worked great. One of the big advantages is that while the plugs are out the butt of the rods are tucked in nicely against the side of the boat and out of the way. They are also back enough that if need be the rower can easily reach them. I have another on the back of the front bench seat. This has worked well when I need a place to put a rod out of the way while the passanger is fighting a fish and I'm rowing to softer water. I still have two more to place and am constantly trying to figure out where exactly I want them. One's probably going to go in the center of the knee brace but that will be a pain as the backing plate is going to need a bevel added. BTW the backing plate I added has also worked great because I can remove the rod holder receptor and only had to drill two holes each thru the boat rather than the four holes that you need to screw on the fish on rod holder. I hope this helps!
Looks like your going to complete your boat just in time. Have fun!
